Mining Wi-Fi Systems allow mine operations to leverage high bandwidth applications.
Mining operations utilise many different standalone platforms for safety and operational efficiency. Miners communicating by radios or handsets, being able to locate people and machinery underground, real-time monitoring of fleet management, monitoring and recording of environmental monitoring & gas detections systems.
Imagine being able to bring these systems together underground into one inexpensive, easy to deploy, high bandwidth, digital Wi-Fi network. Voice, Video and IoT.
Welcome to the mineSMART Wi-Fi System.
The mineSMART Wi-Fi system consists of network components, user devices, and control room applications.
Underground at the heart of the mineSMART network is the Wireless Network Switch (WNS). The WNS is a powerful and arduous Wi-Fi switch operating on dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz MIMO radios. Depending on the mine site requirements, battery backup can be included in the WNS and up to 4 x PoE ports for video, gas detection and IP telephones. A high level of security is built into the WNS to protect from unwanted wireless access.
Special circular polarised high gain mining antennas allow a very large distance between each WNS, usually between 400-700m – however an exact design will be calculated depending on the mine layout and areas that Wi-Fi communication is required.
Each WNS is connected by pre-terminated fibre optic cable allowing for a 1GB backbone, and fibre redundancy is offered by wireless WDS in case of a fibre optic cable break.
The mineSMART Wi-Fi system has been designed to be quick and easy to deploy.
MTI Tech supply and program end user devices such as tracking tags for personnel and machinery and Wi-Fi radios. Third party devices can easily be integrated and connected to the mineSMART Wi-Fi system.
In the control room software applications such as video monitoring and recording, location tracking, environmental monitoring are installed, along with a network cabinet.
